Kogi Speaker’s children yet to be released

The two sons of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh Lawal that were kidnapped about six weeks ago are yet to be released.
The children, Ogirima, 7; and Hafeez, 3 were abducted on April 15 after the gang had at about 4am scaled the fence and invaded Lawal’s residence at Okengwe in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Also the mother of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fair Plus Transport Services Alhaji Yahaya Bello was on Tuesday night abducted. Hajia Hawawu Bello was said to have been abducted by a five man gang at his residence at Nagazi Uvete in Adavi Local
Government area around 9 pm.

In an interview with our correspondent in Ilorin on Friday, a former Acting Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello pleaded with the suspected kidnappers to release the Speaker’s children and the old woman.
Bello, who was also a former speaker of the state added that the victims should not be subjected to further inhumane treatment and captivity.
According to him, Kogi State cannot afford to pay the demanded ransom.
“I appeal to those who kidnapped the speaker’s children to kindly release them because these children are harmless. They will be traumatized over their lives if they continue to be in captivity.
“More-so Kogi State has limited resources. “The kidnappers should not think that being a speaker in Kogi is an automatic ticket to wealth. Kogi, being a poor state, the speaker does not have any money to pay ransom to any kidnapper.
“I am appealing to them that wherever they are in this country to let the children return home so that the speaker and the state will have peace. Kogi does not have oil,” Bello said.
