Obasanjo's book sells out, SSS block importation of more copies

The controversial autobiography of former President Olusegun Obasanjo titled "My Watch" has reportedly sold out just four days after it was officially launched.

An associate to the former President who spoke with Sahara Reporters, said Obasanjo has exhausted the first copies of the book. “Baba sold all the copies that were brought in,” the associate said

The book sold out despite a high court injunction to stop it from circulating. A judge had ordered that copies of the book be confiscated by the police and the DSS after Obasanjo went ahead to launch it despite a court order not to do so...

Police uncover bomb in Kano food market

The Kano state Police command has uncovered a bomb hidden in a sack at Dawnau, the Kano food market. This development comes barely 24 hours after two female suicide bombers blew themselves up at the Filin Parking in Kantin Kwari Market, killing 6 people.

The state's Police commissioner, Adelenre Shinaba confirmed the incident and said the police has successfully detonated the bomb.

Funsho Williams Avenue shut for today’s convention

                             

The Lagos State government has ordered the partial closure of Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, today to control traffic due to the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Commissioner for Transportation Kayode Opeifa, in a statement yesterday, said vehicular movement around the venue would be affected and congestion expected, especially on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Yaba, Masha and Costain areas.

Nigerian music star 9ice who contested for a seat in the House of Representatives for Ogbomosho North/Ogbomosho South/Orire Federal Constituency under APC, and lost, has revealed that he is unhappy with the way the Oyo State primaries were conducted.

He recently released the following statement on the matter:
I, Abolore Adegbola Akande an aspirant under All Progressive Congress party contest against the inconclusive primary election that was carried out at Soun Stadium in Ogbomosho North L.G.A. Area of Oyo State.

There were no ballot boxes, the electoral officers came to the venue arrived at the venue, there were no delegate passes, there was no accreditation, Ogbomosho North Local Government Delegates were not allowed to vote and just two local government participates during the election, Orire local government and Ogbomosho south local government, the election was carried out without preparation for lights and other necessaries to ensure smooth election at night.

I am using this medium to appeal to the appeal committee to render this election null and void with immediate effect, also another date and different venue outside the town should be scheduled for a proper and free and fair election at a later date.

An attempt by Buruji Kashamu and those he is working for to stop the publication of a three-volume book by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, appears to have failed as Sahara Reporters has leaked some critical parts of the book, saying that it has gone into circulation.

A source close to Obasanjo confirmed to SR late last night that copies of the former president’s exhaustive autobiography were already available to buyers in print form. The source said that the book would soon be available in an electronic version that is beyond the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.

The book, whose three volumes chronicle the life of the controversial former president from birth till this year, aroused political interest after SR exclusively reported that Obasanjo devotes significant pages to paint an unflattering portrait of President Goodluck Jonathan...Continue,,,,,

Obanikoro Rejects Lagos PDP Gubernatorial Primary Results

                            
One of the leading governorship contestants of the People Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos and the immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has described as a sham the governorship primary election held in the state by his party.

Mr. Jimi Agbaje, a new-comer to the party won by 434 votes to defeat Obanikoro, who scored 346.

The former Minister who addressed his supporters and pressmen at his Ikeja office noted that the ballots should not have been counted since the number of votes cast exceeded number of accredited delegates, adding that the process of the election was compromised and predetermined. Former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu clinched the PDP ticket for Adamawa state, while serving senator, Ifeanyi Okowa won the primaries in Delta state. Former Ministers Labaran Maku and Emeka Wogu who both resigned their appointments as Ministers in October lost the tickets in their respective states of Nassarawa and Abia. While Jimi Agbaje won the Lagos state primaries.

Chilling new images have emerged from inside Islamic State-run terrorist training schools in Syria, showing child soldiers being trained to kill using assault rifles.
Dubbed 'Caliphate Cubs', the children appear little more than 10 years old and are dressed in full combat gear as they struggle to hold weapons while standing in front of ISIS' infamous black flag.
The photographs were released by official Islamic State media over the weekend and apparently show a recently-opened school close to Damascus - the Assad regime-held capital of Syria where other preteen training camps are known have been operating in recent months.  See more pics below....
