Court orders Financial Reporting Council to stop investigating Sanusi

Justice J. T. Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Lagos, today April 4th ordered the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) to stop any further investigations it is currently carrying out on the suspended CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido. 

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria had leveled allegations of financial recklessness and abuse of office on Sanusi and recommended his suspension which was effected on February 20.

Chelsea face a staggering £10million bill to get Fernando Torres out of Stamford Bridge as the forward prepares to dig in over his £175,000-a-week contract.

Manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear Torres has no future at Chelsea and questioned whether he is ‘a real striker’ following the 3-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. 

Torres, 30, has two years left on his lucrative contract.

Nigeria & 5 other countries, have largest numbers of extremely poor people

The World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, while addressing participants at the Council on Foreign Relations, CFR, meeting in New York on Tuesday April 1st, said five countries, including Nigeria, make up two-thirds of the world's extremely poor people.

“The fact is that two-thirds of the world’s extreme poor are concentrated in just five countries – India, China, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. If you add another five countries — Indonesia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Kenya – the total grows to 80 percent of the extreme poor.”

“By extremely poor, we mean people living on less than $1.25 a day. And more than a billion people in the world live on less than that each day.”

'Facts About The New Lagos State Smoking In Public Places Law'

There have been different views on the recently passed smoking law since it was signed by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola on 17^th of February 2014.

We have now obtained a copy of the law and are surprised to read that contrary to what some people think, the law only becomes effective on the 17^th of August 2014, which is six months after the Governor signed. This means that even the police that have been harassing smokers are not aware of this. Incredibly, the law also allows for smoking in open places such as on the streets, roads and highways as wells as in 10% of hotels, bars, night clubs and tertiary institutions. It even goes further to state that the law will be enforced by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), meanwhile all manner of people have been harassing smokers, even LATSMA and Boys Scout.. Can our government ensure that the public are well informed about laws they pass to prevent undue harassment of its citizens. 

Damn! $450,000 Lamborghini Aventador wrecked in crash

A Lamborghini Aventador speed car worth about $450,000 was wrecked in a three-car smash on one of London's most expensive streets, Sloane Street in Knightsbridge, yesterday afternoon.The Lamborghini was involved in the crash with a BMW and a Mazda 5. The matte black super car collided with the Mazda, then hit a stationary BMW, badly damaging the front of the car. Ouch! I'm seriously hurting for the owner...:-). See more photos after the cut..

Women in revealing clothes deserve to be raped - says a poll in Brazil

According to a report by AFP, a poll in Brazil says a woman who shows off her body deserves to be raped. We are talking about Brazil, the land of samba, voluptuous carnival dancers and mini bikinis.
Of the 3,810 respondents of both sexes who responded to the government’s Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) survey released last week, about 2,480 - 65% - justified raping women who wear “clothing that shows off the body.”And 58.5% of respondents also agreed that “if women knew how to behave, there would be fewer rapes.”This poll has triggered outrage in the country, especially when it was revealed that most of the poll’s respondents - 66.5% - were women. So wait, it is okay to walk near-naked in a carnival, but not in real life? And women are the ones who believe this? There's absolutlely no excuse for rape! What do you guys think?

I am a 27 year old woman. I have been married to my husband for 2 years now and we are expecting a baby. At first, he was very happy about. Now that I am 6 months gone, he tells me that his boss, who has been married for 7 years with no child wants our baby. He said he will give us 10 million for the baby. The offer is very tempting as my husband and I are not very well to do. The money will change our lives. I know I can always give birth to another one.I really do not want to "sell" my baby, but my husband really needs the money. What should I do?
