Younger brother of footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure dies aged 28

                     

The younger brother of Premier League and Ivory Coast footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure died yesterday June 19th in the UK. Ibrahim Toure (pictured left), who was also a professional footballer, was just 28 years old. His cause of death has not been made known but he's said to have died just hours after Ivory Coast lost 2-1 to Colombia at the World Cup. May his soul rest in peace

Ice Prince, Tiwa Savage, Mafikizolo to Perform at 2014 BET Awards

           

Rapper Ice Prince has been officially confirmed to perform at the 2014 BET Awards happening on the 29^thof June live at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. 

Ice Prince, who has twice been nominated for the BET Best International act Africa, before eventually winning the award last year, was officially announced to perform with other African acts alongside the very best entertainers in American music.

Meanwhile Tiwa Savage, South African Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo and Ghanaian hip hop artist Sarkodie will perform as part of the “Music Around the Globe” presentation on Saturday 28 June. 

All three artists were nominated in the BET Awards ‘Best International Act: Africa’ category. This is the first time international acts have performed as part of the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE since the introduction of international BET Award categories. Big congrats to all of them...

The rift between Nigeria richest man Aliko Dangote and Oba Otudeko might be coming to end following their handshake which was initiated by Mr. Femi Otedola, the billionaire President of Forte Oil, on Friday, May 30, 2014. It was garthered that during the burial of Sir Michael Otedola, former governor of Lagos State and the father of Mr. Femi Otedola, the two frenemies were guest at the event.
The opportunity to reconcile the two industrialists presented itself during the reception at St. Patrick Grammar School, Eredo, Epe, Lagos.

Boko Haram attack football viewing center in Damaturu

                                          
Boko Haram men attacked a football viewing center in Damaturu Yobe State yesterday evening, during a live football match between Brazil and Mexico in the ongoing world cup in Brazil.

The sect men reportedly hauled explosives at the viewing center, injuring several people. Injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Seven people have been reported killed in the blast, Yobe state Police commissioner told AFP that they have deployed policemen to the scene and will give details on the incident later...

Soldiers arrest 486 Northerners in Abia

                                 
A group of 486 Nigerians travelling in 35 buses from the North to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, were held by the military in Abia State.

The suspects were stopped at about 2.00a.m yesterday between Arungwa Junction on the Enugu, Port Harcourt Expressway and Imo Gate, the Abia/Rivers boundary. Their vehicles were halted but two of the buses slipped away.
The men aged between 16 years and above, have been detained by the military at the 144 Battalion of Asa, near Aba, Abia State.

Nigeria coach, Stephen Keshi, has great confidence the Super Eagles can qualify for the second round of Brazil 2014 World Cup, saying his players are not scared of any team.

The African champions were drawn into Group F alongside South American giants Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran.

The Eagles open their World Cup campaign against Iran in Curitiba on Monday and Keshi insists his side are ready for the Princes of Persia.
