Bad leadership: Will Nigerians ever say enough?

Nigeria is in a sorry state, a condition that makes mockery of the toil of her foremost nationalists that had lofty dreams about her great but mismanaged potentials. And Nigerians of the younger generation have, inescapably, fallen victim to this avoidable leadership gaffe. Nigeria is at this sorry pass because at every decisive juncture, its leadership had always failed Nigerians.

Such bad leaderships truly did not emanate from the free will of the people but obviously foisted on them by the elite political class. It would not be hyperbolic to state that leadership is the most critical challenge of the nation’s civilization – apologies to Brian Tracy, the world renowned management/leadership expert.

Segun Arinze asks NFVCB boss to resign over Half Of A Yellow Sun

A few weeks ago, the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's book Half of a Yellow Sun was to hit our cinema screens...but it was stopped. I heard the reason it was removed was because of the theme of the movie, the Hausa killing Ibo/biafra war story and because of the current situation in Nigeria, some scenes were asked to be cut from the movie by the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board. I don't know if the scenes have been cut or what exactly is going on right now, but NFVCB has still refused to let the movie show in the cinemas.

Actor and former Actors' Guild of Nigeria president Segun Arinze is now calling for the resignation of the Director-General of the Censors Board. His statement below...

Please tell Madam Patricia Bala of Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board to release the movie Half of a Yellow Sun. She has no reason to hold on to the movie. She has no right to censor the movie only to classify it. She saw it in Canada and even partnered with the producers in Canada during the premiere. What she is doing now is an embarrassment to government and a big insult to our dear industry, Nollywood. We are not in a military regime. She should kindly resign'. - Segun Arinze

His first official single, African Princess, is a passionate song dedicated to lovers.

Ekiti 2014: Why I’m supporting Fayemi – Oni

Engineer Olusegun Adebayo Oni is the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. In this interview, Oni bares it all stating why he is pitching his political tent with Governor Kayode Fayemi.

YOUR leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was greeted with mixed feelings. At what point did you lose hope in the party?
As far as the PDP is concerned, I did everything I could do to give the party a chance to pick a candidate that we can work with, that we can be proud of, that we can show to generations that are coming behind, as someone that we can recommend as role model for them. When the PDP decided what its own options would be, we had no alternative but to make up our mind, rigidly, to toe the path that we have now chosen.

You reportedly said your decision to leave the PDP was to build a future for Ekiti people. What is that future?
What we are doing is in the interest of Ekiti and in the interest of the good name that we may lose if we are not careful. The generations coming may have to suffer for it if we allow it to be completely destroyed. Continue...

"I'm not a cooking kind of woman and my husband is fine with it' - Joke Silva

In a recent interview with City People magazine, Nollywood screen legend Joke Silva talked about her lack of cooking skills and other ways she takes care of her husband, screen legend, Olu Jacobs..
"I have never lied about this, I have never been 'a doing the cooking kind of woman'. When my husband met me, he knew. He was the one who used to do the cooking because he is good at it. I used to do the cooking when I felt like. Sometimes, it comes out to be a huge success and sometimes a failure. Some years ago, I cooked vegetables and it was terrible and my husband is such a gem, he ate it like that. It is not as if my mum didn't teach me. For my husband, cooking is a therapy and for me it is a chore and yet he will always tell you that I look after him so much, I do that in other ways. We have somebody who does the cooking. I have taught them to cook the way I like and we have people who do the general cleaning."

Nigerian Unemployed graduates to receive N19k monthly allowance?

That's what a committee at the on-going National Conference is suggesting...for all unemployed graduates in Nigeria to earn a monthly allowance equivalent to the allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps, which is N19,800.

Punch reports that the conference’s Committee on Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform made the recommendation but it can only fall through if its accepted by the Federal Government.

A member of the committee said the recommendation was one of the ways the committee members felt that crime could be reduced in the country. He told Punch;
"The recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the country. “We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary.”
I have a feeling, FG won't be interested in this.
