Stephen Keshi laments Crisis in Nigeria affecting Eagles

SUPER Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi has admitted that political tension back home is in the back of his and his players’ minds ahead of the FIFA World Cup which begins in six day’s time.
After Nigeria’s pre-World Cup friendly against Greece on Tuesday night, the Big Boss spoke to ESPN at the Philadelphia camp of the Super Eagles. In a video that lasted for a minute and 10 seconds, Keshi said: “The tension in Nigeria is really going to affect my players at the World Cup as some of them have family members and loved ones out there.

Gunmen invade Benue College

                                 


Barely two weeks after female students of the Benue State University, Makurdi, were attacked and raped by unknown gunmen, students of the College of Advanced and Professional Studies (CAPS) faced a similar ordeal on Tuesday as gunmen invaded the school and brutally attacked them.

The gunmen numbering more than six, stormed the institution in the early hours of Tuesday precisely at about 4:30am and forced their way into the female hostels while the girls were sleeping and swooped on five of the students apparently with the intension of raping them.

Upcoming Nollywood actress Banke Adewunmi says that sexual harassment is real in Nollywood and it needs to be curbed. Speaking with Encomium magazine recently, Banke said;

"There's sexual harassment in the Industry. It's not easy making it without being sexually harassed. Some people think its like trade by barter. It's real. There should be a level playing ground for all without attaching any dirty conditions. People should be allowed to showcase their God-given talents without any hindrance" she said.

All APC presidential aspirants ’ll get fair chance, says Fashola

       
Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has said all aspirants for Presidency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be given fair chance to contest the position.

Fashola spoke yesterday at the Lagos House in Ikeja when students of Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom (UK), led by Rear Admiral Jonas Haggren, visited him.

He said: “There is nothing unusual in the emergence of the presidential candidate of the APC. It will be an open activity and a high level of accountability. I believe everyone who has aspiration will be given fair chance to express and ventilate that aspiration, subject to the rule of politics that we are all aware of. That is votes, persuasion, lobbying and others. “Nothing unusual will happen. There will not be anything behind the closet.”

Banky W, Omotola, Dakolo to grace EiE dinner

                 
Come June 14, top Nigerian music and Nollywood stars, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Banky W and Timi Dakolo, will grace the maiden fundraising dinner of the Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), a political pressure group, scheduled to hold at The Duchess Zion Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The EiE is a coalition of individuals and youth-led organisations committed to a culture of good governance and public accountability.
