Mrs Aisha Buhari Calls For Establishment Of Children’s Parliament

The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, has called on governors of all states to establish children’s parliament that would prepare them as future leaders.

PM News reports that Mrs Buhari made the call on Monday, November 2, in Abuja at the inauguration of the 4th Assembly of FCT Children Parliament. She was represented at the event by Alayingi Sylva, the wife of the ex-governor of Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva.

According to Mrs Buhari, the establishment of children’s parliament is necessary because it would provide a platform for the children to participate in national development and give a voice to the youths.

Civil servants to get their October salaries today- Presidency

The Federal government say civil servants under its payroll will get their October salaries today November 3rd.
A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on media and publicity, Shehu Garba, states that the delay in the salaries was due to the crashing of some computers that were being used when the salaries were to be disbursed last week. The salaries were meant to have been paid a week before the end of October.

The Super Eagles attacker Obafemi Martins has reacted to his recent recall to the national team after two years absence.

Speaking to BBC sports, Martins revealed it was a bit of shock after he got coach Oliseh’s invite.

FG Reveals Strategies To Boost Naira, Diversify Economy

  
The federal government has revealed strategies to boost the value of naira and diversify the economy.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who spoke in Enugu said President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic policies would produce a stronger naira.

To achieve this, the federal government is collaborating with rice-producing states in the North to achieve self-sufficiency in rice and wheat production.

Golden Eaglets Wallop Brazil To Secure Semi-final Berth

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglet got a step closer to their pursuit for a fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup title as they walloped their Brazilian counterparts 3-0 to advance to the semi finals.

After a 2-1 defeat against Croatia in the last group game, the Golden Eaglets bounced back to winning ways to trounce Australia 6-0 in their second round game with top scorer of the tournament  Victor Osimhen netting a treble.

Brazil scraped through its last 16 clash against New Zealand and had to improve to beat the Eaglets.

However, goals in the space of five minutes from top scorer Victor Osimhen, Kingsley Michael and Udochukwu Anumudu were enough for Nigeria to ease past through to the Semi-final.

Nigeria Customs To Retire 400 Officers

                                  
There has been speculation that 400 officers of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) will soon leave the service for reasons bordering  corruption, insubordination, indiscipline and absenteeism, Vanguard reports.

This action is coming following the retirement of 34 officers on Friday, October 30, and the voluntary retirement of 5 Deputy Comptrollers-General of the NCS on Thursday, October 29. 

There are reports that some of the officers slated for retirement next week were said to have disregarded re-deployment orders as well as influenced their promotion even when they were not due to be promoted.
