Syndicate Nabbed At Abuja Airport While Trying To Smuggle Drugs Abroad

NDLEA arrested 3 suspected members of a drug syndicate with 18.2kgs of drugs valued at N163m at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja. One of them, a South African, Sipho Mitshali, 31, was found with 4kg of Ephedrine and 8kg of Methamphetamine on his way to Johannesburg.

The other two are Nigerians, Ifeagwu Osita and Obiabumuo Augustine Ikechukwu were also arrested for attempting to smuggle 4.7kg and 1.5kg of cocaine respectively. Ikechukwu was attempting to export the cocaine to Switzerland through Frankfurt.

There was anxiety yesterday in Kaduna, following a clash between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and policemen in Tudun Wada.

An eyewitness account said the Shiite sect members were preparing for a protest against the arrest of their leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, by the military when the police came to disperse the crowd.

But the sect members regrouped at Tudun Nupawa where many of them were said to have engaged the police in a shootout, leading to injuries on both sides.

National Human Rights Commission to investigate the Army/Shiite clash

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC on Tuesday, has set up a Special Investigative Panel to investigate the circumstances that led to the bloody clash between the Nigerian Army and the Shiite Muslim sect in Northern Nigeria.

The clash, which took place during the weekend, took the lives of seven people and injured 10 others.
A statement by the commission, said the panel was set up by the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Prof. Bem Angwe, following a petition lodged against the Muslim sect by the Nigerian Army and some concerned citizens.

A huge cargo airplane, carrying 180-tons of equipment, lands at the airport of Shijiazhuang, north ‪China‬'s Hebei Province. The Antonov-225, the largest cargo airplane in the world, was bringing a set of manufacturing moulds from a ‪#‎Germany‬-based auto company to China.    

President Of Iran Reportedly Calls President Buhari Over Military Attack On Shiite Sect

Reports in Iran have it that President Hassan Rouhani has called up Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari over a military crackdown on Nigeria's main Shia sect that, it is alleged, has left hundreds dead, the AFP news agency reports. 

Shia Muslims have been protesting in six northern Nigerian cities over the alleged killings. Mr Rouhani has been quoted as saying "minor disputes must not be allowed to turn into deep differences".

 On Monday, Shia-dominated Iran summoned a Nigerian diplomat in Tehran to protest against the crackdown.

This daredevil fitness fanatic showed no fear as he worked out his stomach muscles - by dangling upside down over a 1,000ft drop. Spectacular pictures show Luis Fernando Candela hanging by his feet and using his abs to hold himself in position high above a beach at Pedra do Telegrafo, Brazil. Candela, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was photographed by his terrified girlfriend performing what he described as his 'most dangerous' stunt yet.
