Didier Drogba retires from international football

                       

Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba has announced his retirement from international football. He will no longer play for his country Ivory Coast but will continue to play for Chelsea. See the statement he posted on his website today below...

"It is with much sadness that I have decided to retire from international football. These past 12 years in the national team have been full of emotions. From my first call up to my last match I have always tried to give my best for my country. I am very proud to have been captain of this team for 8 years and to have contributed to placing my country on the world stage of football taking part in 3 world cups and 2 African Cup of Nation finals. I cannot convey enough thanks to the fans for all the love & support during these years. All my goals, all my caps, all our victories are for you – I love you. I also owe much gratitude to my team mates – the players with whom I have shared all these emotions and I wish you all much success for the future & a very warm welcome to the new manager.”

Boko Haram takes control Yobe military camps

                                 

Some military camps in Buni Yadi, Buni Gari and Goniri in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State have been allegedly occupied by Boko Haram insurgents, residents said.

The bombing of the Katarko Bridge by the insurgents has also temporarily cut-off both vehicular and human movement  between Buni Yadi and Damaturu, the state capital.

Investigation gathered by Zikkyconcept.blogspot.com revelas that  daring travellers to the danger zone now have to break their journeys at Katarko and cross over River Katarko to join a waiting vehicle to Buni Yadi or Buni Gari and vice versa. Continue....

Jega, Aregbesola disagree over anti-rigging plan

                                                     
State Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rauf Aregbesola and Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, yesterday, sharply disagreed over the anti-rigging procedure proposed by the governor.

The face-off came as the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, warned trouble makers that they would face the full wrath of the law if they foment trouble before, during or after the election.

Ebola, now a matter of national emergency, FG declares

                               

The Federal government has declared the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria a matter of national Emergency, adding that everyone is now at risk of being infected.

Speaking with State House correspondence at the end of today's Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu said the Nigerian government has written to the Director of the United State Centre for Disease Control to request for the release of some of the unapproved ZMAG drug which has proven to be useful in the treatment of the Ebola disease. He said the Federal government awaits a response from the United state government and hopeful if the drugs are released, they could be used to treat the confirmed cases of the Ebola virus disease in Nigeria. Gunmen kill eight in Port Harcourt new attack

                                 
 Suspected gunmen have killed eight people in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The attacks occurred a few days after suspected cult members killed 15 persons at Egi communities in Ogba/Egbema Ndoni Local Government.
Three persons were also killed in Khana Local Government. One of the cult members in the council was beaded and the head was taken away.

A source said the gunmen opened fire at two drinking joints on the ever-busy Aggrey Road in the old Port Harcourt Township, popularly called Town. Continue.....
