Female Student Breaks Record At Nigerian Law School

                                
Fatima Bombom Sani made history at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, after she was named the winner of nine prestigious awards.

Daily Trust reports that 26-year-old Fatima broke the existing record in the school by bagging nine separate awards compared to the previous record of seven awards ever received at the Call to Bar of the Nigerian Law School.

The talented young woman was honoured with a standing ovation by the chief justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, and other members of the Body of Benchers and the Council of Legal Education, and other dignitaries.

Highly Processed Red Meats Are Cancerous

                  
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned Nigerians that consuming of popular barbeque, Suya and Kilishi, increases the risk of developing cancer related ailments. 

According to the report, a study recently showed connections between red meat and cancer. The WHO also asserted that making red meats cook at a very high temperature creates carcinogenic chemicals. About 50g of processed meat a day increases the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%.

Processed meat are meats  that “have been modified to increase its shelf-life or alter its taste – such as by smoking, curing or adding salt or preservatives”. The later part of the definition brings one to the mention of Suya, which is red meat that goes through severe heat and then seasoned with salt, pepper and groundnut powder. Kilishi is the dryer version of Suya.

Fresh Rivers Poll: We'll Beat Wike Mercilessly - APC Boasts

       

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state says Nyesom Wike, the incumbent governor, will lose in a fresh free and fair election.

According to the party, the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dakuku Peterside, will mercilessly beat Wike in a free and fair election, The Cable reports.

This was claimed on Monday, October 26, in a statement by Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the spokesman for the Rivers APC chairman.

“If Wike and PDP are convinced that they truly won any election in Rivers State, we challenge them not to appeal the tribunal judgement and let the people of Rivers State decide in a free and fair election,” the statement read.

MBGN winner, Unoaku Anyadike to fight endometriosis

                              

In line with the demands of her crown, the newly-crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2015, Miss Unoaku Anyadike, has said that she will devote her reign to creating awareness of the dangers of endometriosis in females.

Anyadike came out tops, beating 36 other contestants to the crown at the event organised by the Siverbird Group at the International Conference Centre, Calabar on Saturday night.

While Miss Ebonyi, Debbie Collins, was the first runner-up and the Miss Charismatic, Miss Abuja, Chizoba Ejike, was the second runner-up. Miss Bauchi, Chikaodili Nna-Udosen, also emerged third runner-up.

With her victory, Anyadike will represent Nigeria at the Miss World beauty pageant, while Collins will go for the Miss Universe beauty pageant. The second runner-up, Ejike will contest the Miss Tourism Beauty Pageant while Nna-Udosen, the third runner-up, will carry Nigeria’s flag at the Miss ECOWAS beauty pageant.

Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola has announced Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi as the new Ooni of Ife.

This is coming barely three months after the death of Oba Okunade Sijuwade. Prince Ogunwusi is from the Giesi ruling house and he is the 51st Ooni of Ile-Ife.
