 I only know him to be Rivers State governor, and from his performances so far, he has proved himself to be very sensitive when it comes to the plight of his people. He has worked tirelessly to give them good roads, improved healthcare, etc. He has also alleviated poverty in the state.

"It is the Lord’s doing. I want to recall that my removal in 2006 remains a mystery to the common man on the streets but they never left me for a day, they believed in me. I want to equally let you know that I was left with the people without money, eight years in the wilderness. My charge to every politician is to target the poor people. They will not come and ask you for contracts, all they want is to have their lives improved, to which they believe I have an answer.
I do things a governor is expected to do. For me, I am a grassroots man and because of the way I operate with them, they call me Senior Advocate of the Masses. So, I want to continue that trend, I want to identify with them continuously. I will not leave them. So, the strategy is, when you are voted into power, don’t forget that 4 years is a short time. 

Ayo Fayose, 53, was governor of Ekiti from 29 May 2003 to 16 October 2006. He was removed from office by the Obasanjo administration. He fled the country but returned after Obasanjo left power.

Younger brother of footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure dies aged 28

                     

The younger brother of Premier League and Ivory Coast footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure died yesterday June 19th in the UK. Ibrahim Toure (pictured left), who was also a professional footballer, was just 28 years old. His cause of death has not been made known but he's said to have died just hours after Ivory Coast lost 2-1 to Colombia at the World Cup. May his soul rest in peace

Ice Prince, Tiwa Savage, Mafikizolo to Perform at 2014 BET Awards

           

Rapper Ice Prince has been officially confirmed to perform at the 2014 BET Awards happening on the 29^thof June live at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. 

Ice Prince, who has twice been nominated for the BET Best International act Africa, before eventually winning the award last year, was officially announced to perform with other African acts alongside the very best entertainers in American music.

Meanwhile Tiwa Savage, South African Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo and Ghanaian hip hop artist Sarkodie will perform as part of the “Music Around the Globe” presentation on Saturday 28 June. 

All three artists were nominated in the BET Awards ‘Best International Act: Africa’ category. This is the first time international acts have performed as part of the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE since the introduction of international BET Award categories. Big congrats to all of them...
