Boko Haram recaptures Gamboru-Ngala, disarms 480 Nigerian soldiers

                    
Boko Haram men today launched an attack on Gamboru-Ngala village in Borno state, displacing many of the villagers and disarming about 480 Nigerian soldiers stationed at the Cameroon-Nigeria border.

According to reports, the attack started around 5.30 this morning in the army barracks in Ngala known as Harmony Camp before proceeding to Gamboru where they took over the town without any military resistance. The insurgents reportedly embarked on a house-to-house raid in Gamboru.

Cameroonian Army spokesman, Lt Col Didier Badjek, who confirmed that soldiers have been disarmed said they are now being accommodated in schools. Residents of Gamboru-Ngala village are said to have taken refuge in Fotokol town in Cameroon.

Van Vicker quits set for fear of Ebola

                                
It thus sounds like many of the jokes being peddled about the Ebola scare but award winning Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker, doesn’t see anything about the virus as a joke. The actor who has a Liberian lineage, has made it open that he is scared of going back to Liberia to shoot the second part of his movie, ‘Bendu Sudan’ because of the deadly Ebola virus ravaging the country,

It would be recalled that the actor openly announced that he would be shooting the second part of the film in Liberia after shooting the first part in Ghana.

“ Ebola is a deadly disease,you can’t joke with it. I have been to Liberia several times to do casting and production meetings, and all was scheduled to go for shoot this month, but because of the Ebola threat, I don’t want to take chances shooting in Liberia. I pray that the good Lord saves us all. I will be going back to shoot the part 2 once the Ebola issues are solved” he said.                                  

Ebola: FG confirms two new cases

                                 
The Federal Government has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease in the country, bringing to four the number of patients under isolation.

Confirming the fresh cases on Friday, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, said they were among secondary contact to the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer who imported the virus into the country.

Lagos State government had during the week announced the fresh cases which the Federal Government denied.

With this development, the number of people afflicted by the virus has increased to 14, with five deaths recorded and five other patients discharged after recovering from the disease.

Photo: Human parts syndicate busted in Lagos

                         

Operatives of  the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have smashed a syndicate that specialize in selling human parts, Vanguard reports. 

The 3 suspects whose names were given as Mustapha Muritala, Sunday Oluyeba and Adenike Olanrewaju, were arrested at the Ojumerin area of Sagamu, Ogun State following a tip off. Recovered from the suspects were two human skulls suspected to have been procured from a graveyard.

When interrogated, one of the suspects, 42 year old Herbalist Mustapha Murtala, said he ventured into the business two years ago following an offer of N30,000 for a human skull. Continue...

Boko Haram takes over Police Academy in Borno state

                                
                                
Boko Haram men today August 21st reportedly invaded the Liman Kara Police college, a riot police training academy in Gwoza, Borno state and took over the academy. 

According to BBC, the sect men arrived the town in armored cars and dozens of motorcycles. Scores of trainees at the academy have been reported killed while many managed to escape to nearby mountains for safety. More details later
