Kogi Speaker’s children yet to be released

                                               

The two sons of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh Lawal that were kidnapped about six weeks ago are yet to be released.

The children, Ogirima, 7; and Hafeez, 3 were abducted on April 15 after the gang had at about 4am scaled the fence and invaded Lawal’s residence at Okengwe in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Also the mother of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fair Plus Transport Services Alhaji Yahaya Bello was on Tuesday night abducted. Hajia Hawawu Bello was said to have been abducted by a five man gang at his residence at Nagazi Uvete in Adavi Local
Government area around 9 pm.

Boko Haram frees four girls

                         
According to a report by Punch, Four of the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls have regained their freedom.

They were freed by the Boko Haram insurgents when they took ill, the Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, Mr. Bana Lawan, said in Abuja yesterday.

The state government confirmed last night that the girls have reunited with their family members.

Lawan, who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting for validation draft on humanitarian response plan for the abducted girls, did not say when the four were freed. He also did not give their names.

Nigerian sentenced to 27 years imprisonment in Cambodia

                 

3 year old Precious Chineme Nwoko (pictured above) has been sentenced to 27 years imprisonment by a Cambodian Court for drug trafficking in Cambodia.

Police sources say Nwoko was a ringleader in a heroin smuggling cartel in Cambodia. He was arrested last month for handing a backpack containing 2.2 kilos (4.8 pounds) of heroin to two women, 41year old Australian Yoshe Ann Taylor and 19 year old French Charlene Savarino, for onward transportation to an unidentified man in Australia. Students from Polytechnics and Colleges of Education this morning took to the streets of Lagos to protest the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP, strike which has been on for over 9 months now. The strike has grounded academic activities in all Polytechnics and also halted the students' academic pursuits.
